Wolfwordsandcrowspeak was set up in 2021 by Jo and Andy Jukes as a vehicle by which to publish their work and disseminate their shared ideas.
Andy’s poetry has been described by Martin Shaw from the West Country School of Myth as ‘compact, wilful, strange poems that act as an animistic counterweight to the strung-out neurosis of our times. You could carve them on your breast plate.’
Jo’s writing is all about nature connection and relationship with the natural world. Paul Evans, writer of The Guardian Country Diary, describes her first book ‘Finding Home – Journeys with the Hillforts of Shropshire’ as ‘archaeology of the soul – it uncovers a different sense of belonging-to, a dwelling-with, ..that ..reveals some still, scared point in an ever-turning world – to venture there is to journey beyond time and to discover a home there is an act of love.’
Their works attempt to illuminate and share a broadly animistic worldview in a way that is accessible to a wider audience.
Their aim is to communicate the joy to be had by seeing the world through an other-than-human lens.
